Kim Kardashian's Divorce Could Be Good for Business

There are reports that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce just 72 days after marrying basketball star Kris Humphries. According to TMZ the date of separation is today and Kardashian will cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for divorce.
What does this mean for Kardashian? Despite any heartache, the divorce could be good business for the Kardashian brand. Much of the reality star’s fame is based on her E! show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In order to get people to keep watching the show, the sisters need to supply a steady stream of romance, heart break and baby drama.

Not only does a divorce goose story lines, it will also practically guarantee more magazine covers for Kim as she gives exclusives about her sad, sad divorce. That helps keep the Kardashians in the spotlight which again, helps draw viewers for the show.
And the more people who watch the show and read about Kim the more people who will likely buy clothes from the sisters’ new line at Sears. And a single Kim is far sexier than a married Kim. That should help sales of products she endorses on her own like her fragrance, Love, and Midori liqueur.
The couple reportedly had a prenup so it’s unlikely Kardashian will have to share any of her money with Humphries. We estimate that Kardashian earned $12 million last year while Humphries has earned $16 million over his seven-year career.
One big question will be: Will she sell the ring? With an estimated value of $2 million, that could give Kardashian’s earnings a quick bounce.
